The Good-O-Meter

I posted a comment and someone emailed me a personal response. I have tried to read it a few times but cant seem to cut through the rambling.

Hi, I saw your comment on the Good-O-Meter vid and wanted to respond.
Grace is God’s unmerited favor. not like saying grace at the table, more like “Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wtrech like me..”
You are asking the right questions, and God says in His Word, the Bible “Ask and ye shall receive. Seek and ye shall find.”
If all we needed was for Jesus to like us then everyone would go to heaven, because Jesus doesn’t just like us, He LOVES us and He died to give us a chance to go to heaven. That video isn’t very comprhensive, but it did what it was supposed to do- get your attention, get you curious, and get you asking questions, and the most important request- “Help!” Actually it’s as simple as that.
The only to get to heaven is to be “born again” John 3:3.
First we need to recognize that we are all bad. All of us. Romans 3:23 says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” then we must see our need for a Savior, since none of us is good enough to get to heaven, the only one good enough is Jesus. But He will save “whosoever” wants to be saved, or born again. We must repent of our sin (sin is anything that isn’t God’s will, including disobeying the 1st commandment- “You shall love the Lord Your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.” We’ve all fallen short there.. ) and want to do things God’s way from now on. In effect we “lay down our lives” for Christ. And this is the greatest paradox of the Christian faith and life in general- it is only when we “give up” our lives that we find the True and abundant Life that Jesus intends for us to live. We are spiritually dead until Christ comes into our lives and dwells in our hearts.
The law of sin and death says that the Soul that sins, it shall die. And we’ve all sinned so we all deserve eternal death, or seperation from God, AKA hell. But Jesus (being God who came to earth in a physical body) never sinned, but still died (physically). This broke the law of sin and death and allows God to impute our sin to Him, and inexchange, He gives us His righteousness! Hallelujah!
So I can say now that I am as righteous as Jesus Christ! But not because I’ve done anything to earn it, because of His blood shed on the Cross and His grace of giving it to me freely.. Jesus was buried in a tomb and rose from the dead on the 3rd day, thus conquerring death and the devil! So He gives us the opportunity of having victory over the grave too! Eternal life! What a great God we have. :)

When it says “grace” it means that there is nothing we can DO to earn our way into heaven. We can’t impress God with our merit or deeds. We are all sinners. Eternal life is a free GIFT given by the grace of God, because He is so good and loves us so much. :) And Jesus has already done everything that needed to be done- He died in Our place… If you want I can explain this better in a subsequent message… there is too much to get in all one letter… :)

I’ve only been a Christian for 2 years, so a lot of the questions you have were on my mind only a short time ago. But God has taught me so much in just that short time! And I will NEVER go back to my old ways, because there is simply no comparison between living life for Christ and living life for myself. Jesus is the only One who can answers our questions and gives our Life purpose and meaning, because He is the very Creator of Life, the Universe and Everything! And the Bible is His instruction booklet for life on this planet He created. Nothing will ever make sense until we recognize this and abide by His word.
So in short this is the “Gospel” of Jesus Christ- He died on the Cross for the sins of the world, He was buried in a tomb for 3 days. He rose again from the grave and is alive forever more!!
So to “obey the gospel” and go to heaven we must obey the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ-
1 death- we must “die” to ourselves in repentence.
2 burial- we are symbolically “buried” in immersion in water Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ.
3 resurrection- when we repent and are Baptized, God promises us the gift of the Holy Spirit. THIS is the mark or “seal” of a real Christian.Do not be fooled! not all who claim to be Christians are Christians! This is why people are turned away by the hypocrisy of the “church”. I can tell you I’m a doctor, but that certainly doesn’t make me a doctor! (I drive a
Act 2:38 sums it up. Peter, responding to the question “What must we do??” frantically asked by the people who had crucified Christ without a cause (..”HELP!” ) said “Repent, and be Baptized, every one of you, in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost!”
Jesus will forgive us ALL our sins if we genuinely want Him to. If we are seriously sorry for our past (I know I was!!! I was awful and stupid!) And if we really want to turn to Him. Our past sins are forgotten and forgiven!! Praise the Lord!! :)
There’s a guy VenomFangX on here who does a lot of real good “apologetics” that’s a fancy word for reasoning and proving that the Scriptures (Bible) are true, and how we can confidently place our trust in Jesus Christ and how infallible God’s Word is. God is great! I pray you will trust Him today! :) I will pray for you that you will seek to know the truth. (Jesus said “I am the Truth.”!) If you sincerely want to know the truth, you will surely find it. It’s one of the principles God built into the fabric of life in this world- Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you.. Revelation 3:20 Jesus says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him and he with me..” He’s speaking of the door of your heart.. :)

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions or need any help, or are serious about giving your life to Christ and being born again so you can come to heaven. I don’t do the youtube thing too much but my e-mail is also
